Connie L. Cuffee, President

Welcome to the website of the Richmond Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. We are delighted that you are here and hope that your experience is informative and enjoyable. We are a fairly large chapter with more than 320 members serving the greater Richmond area community. Chartered in 1937, the Richmond Alumnae Chapter is rich in history and tradition but ready for growth and change whenever opportunities occur. The Richmond Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has a longstanding tradition of public service, and has earned a solid reputation as one of the area’s leading and most respected organizations. At its December 10, 2007 meeting Richmond City Council officially recognized the chapter for 70 years of outstanding service on behalf of our community.  In July 2012, The Richmond Alumnae Chapter was named the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  South Atlantic Region’s “Chapter of the Year”. We have also been recognized for several program initiatives that continue to grow each year.

Members of the Richmond Alumnae Chapter serve and empower the Richmond area community through a wide range of programs and activities. The chapter consists of committees that are organized around our Five-Point Program Thrust of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Political Awareness and Involvement and Physical and Mental Health. These committees provide the basic framework for the design and implementation of chapter programs, projects and activities. Special care is taken to ensure that the needs of the community are identified and addressed. Partnerships with other community agencies and organizations have enabled the Richmond Alumnae Chapter to effectively make a difference in the lives of young people in Richmond Pubic Schools. Programs and activities such as Delta Academy, Delta GEMS, F.A.S.T. (Families and School Teams), SWAP (Students with a Promise), Oratorical Contest, Jabberwock, Read Aloud, Infinite Scholars and High Achievers have given students hope to have a vision of themselves in the future and skills to be successful at whatever they decide to do in life.

It is an honor to serve as President of this great chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  If you have questions or concerns about anything you see or read on this website, please do not hesitate to use our contact page. Your feedback is welcomed.

Sincerely,
Connie L. Cuffee
President
